FAQ
Q: Why Shred the Classics?
A: Well, we’re a small group of guitar enthusiasts who have discovered the secret world of learning classical pieces on electric guitar and want to share it with the world! You may be wondering: ”But there are tons of people who are playing classically-influenced rock music, not to mention classical guitarists!” Yes, that’s true, but have you ever noticed that the music that most of these people play centers around Bach, Vivaldi, and Paganini? And, not to mention, the same music or, at least, the same styles are chosen from these composers. While those composers are no doubt great, we want to take guitarists beyond that bubble of music into the vast ocean of classical music.
Q: What level of guitar proficiency do I need?
A: The great thing about a website is that it’s pretty forgiving in terms of your skill as a guitarist. While it’s true that most classical music is quite challenging, even beginning guitarist can start learning and appreciating music from the great masters. Even if you work on a lick that lasts just a couple of measures, there’s often a wealth of learning that’s there that will help you to progress to the next level. Shred the Classics also encourages the study of music theory and as such also has an online theory class that you can work through on your own.
